Deleting your TeamLayer account
You can delete your account yourself, from inside the app. This page explains what disappears, what stays, and how to ask us if you cannot sign in.
1. From inside the app
Open your team in the app (web, desktop or mobile), then:
- Click your avatar and choose Account settings.
- Scroll to Delete account.
- Confirm with your password and the confirmation word.
The same page is reachable directly at /settings/account/delete on your team address.
2. What we delete
Access ends immediately, in every team: you are signed out everywhere and the account stops working.
After 30 days we permanently erase your personal data:
- your email address and name,
- your password,
- your profile picture, job title, department, phone, location and bio,
- your notification settings, read state and push notification tokens,
- your entry in the global sign-in directory.
Until that date the deletion can be undone with the link we email you when you request it. That window exists so a mistaken click is not final.
3. What stays, and why
Messages, tasks, comments, documents and files created inside a team stay with that team. Your name comes off them - the author becomes "Deleted user" - but the content itself remains.
This is not a technical shortcut. For that content the controller is the organisation that owns the team; we are only its processor. Deleting it on one member's request would mean deleting someone else's records without asking them.
If you want that content gone too, ask the team's administrator. They can delete it, and they can also delete the whole team, which removes its database.
4. If you are the last administrator
If you are the only remaining administrator of a team that still has other members, the app asks you to make someone else an administrator first. Otherwise the team would be left with people in it and nobody able to manage it. A team where you are the only member has no such condition.
5. Requesting deletion without signing in
Lost your password or already lost access? Write to us from the address the account uses and say you want it deleted. We answer within one month, usually far sooner, and we confirm in writing once it is done.
